I'm hoping I can rely on the kindness of strangers by asking the good people of AVForumsland for help in solving a small quandary. I'm trying to decide between several hifi amplifiers, namely
Marantz PM-55 (secondhand)
Cambridge Audio A1 Mk 3 (secondhand)
Audiolabs 8000S (new)
The 'winning' amp will be driving Castle Knight 2s or 4s (I haven't decided yet) and the main sources will be a turntable and PC playing a wide range of music.
I am led to believe that they are all pretty decent amps, but at their current prices the Audiolab is 4 times the price of each of the others (it's new and covered by a guarantee). In these circumstances which amp would forum members go for?
