I am not an electronics engineer ... it has always fascinated me that amplifier designers are able to mix and match various electrical components such as resistors, capacitors, transistors, valves, transformers, rectifiers and other bits and bobs to end up with an acceptable end product (amplification) giving satisfactory sound.
My question is simply what components of an electrical / amplification circuit have the biggest effect on the quality of sound at the speakers?
