While on holiday in the Eastern Cape I came across this antique percussion pistol at a 2nd hand shop, it was cheap so I bought it and brought it back home with me. AFAIK one does not need a license for antique black powder firearms, is this correct of has the law changed recently? I would love to know the history of the gun but the pawn shop owner couldn't tell me anything, he had it labeled as a "pirate gun".
I'm not looking to sell until I find out a bit more about it, does anyone know of places that specialize in giving appraisal on items such as these?
