Apple TV

Is there anyone out there that uses apple TV? Does it hv its own DAC or does it use the DAC in the  iPhone/iPad? Im asking this bcs the sound quality sucks when playing music from an iPhone through my hifi bcs of the poor quality DAC in the iPhone.

Any experience and or knowledge regarding this?
