Now, here is a contraversial one: If musical instruments and voices fall in the frequency range 30 to 4000Hz , why do we care so much for tweeters going to 20kHz and more? A woofer and good midrange driver would (should) be ample!
I actually was under impression some instruments go much higher than even 12kHz, but it does not seem to be the case.

Yes, I know it does sound 'off' if a tweeter is dead, but does e.g. B&W's Diamond tweeter then matter? Is it worth that much money being spent on something that is actually way over engineered for the purpose?
