Audio equipment prices in SA ... we're being smoked

Been watching classifieds from afar for a while and everytime there's something relatively recent I'm tempted by I check local (UK) pricing and ZA retail.  In many instances I can buy the new item for less here in the UK (which is supposed to be expensive) than the 2nd hand asking in SA.  I've come to the conclusion you're being well and truly smoked by retail in SA ... then in many instances there's not even decent warranty or authorised repair facility, so you get smoked again. I don't know what the answer is, but the current status quo can't be sustainable.
