Auto-Calibration Microphone - universal?

Hi folks

I have a Sony HT system that accepts the Sony calibration microphone - unfortunately I don't have one.

A local audio shop has a Yamaha calibration mic for R350 available.

My two questions are:
1) Does it matter if it's a different make mic (the salesman insists it doesn't make a difference - I'm not convinced)
2) Is the price fair?
