I've have an old Emotiva UMC200 processor which I love. But with newer technology such as UHD and HDMI2.0 needed, it'll probably need to be replaced soon. I have no money to implement changes to my system right now but always keep an eye out. My observation :
Why are processors so expensive and so limited? There seem to be a handful of brands and these are fairly high end. It seems to be limited to Emotiva, Marantz and Rotel at the normal pricing.
The one product that almost comes close is a Marantz Nr1609 slimline amp with 50w per channel. I see it has pre outs for the front and subs, but not the other channels. Do manufacturers do this to prevent people using these as processors and needing to invest in higher end?
