I am really looking for suggestions here, so comment on my perceived 'solution' and any other suggestions will be welcome.
PROBLEM STATENT: I always seem to want speech clearer on my AV system. I am not after louder - I am after clearer speech - I am 61 years old and seem to be hearing OK, but.....I think my peers need no explanation.
STATUS: I have a mix and match system, and really do not like to evoke a discussion on having the same brand speakers in every corner as I have been down the avenue and I have better than what the same brand all round can offer already, so here goes: AVR is a Marantz 6008; Fronts B&W CM 9's, bi-amped, centre is a somewhat unknown Boston E70 (https://www.crutchfield.com/S-fdigEkfX3tO/p_065E70C/Boston-Acoustics-E70-Cherry.html) and rears are Infinity Primus 250's, sub is a Sumiko S9. SO, the improvement I am looking for is on the Boston's side, and no, a B&W CM centre is no better, tested, dusted and done! Room is well treated and my stereo system impresses always - problem does not seem to be there. Listening room is 5.5 X 6 m, speakers about 0.5 m from the front wall and chairs about 1.2 meters from the rear wall with a Book case filled with books standing between the rears to iron out any echoes from the rear. Lots of heavy curtains and furnishings in the right proportion not to deaden the sound but eliminate echoes. Roof is designed to be open trusses so as not to have a square box.
PERCEIVED SOLUTION I have another one of the Boston E70's sitting in bubble wrap. What if I employ yet another amp tapped from the Marantz's pre out just to drive the other E70, and mount the 2nd E70 above the TV (65 inch on the wall). The current E70 sits just below the TV screen at the moment. Will it provide a better (more) sound and hence more clarity? :nfi: Or, is my solution, before I buy another amplifier, elsewhere or am I knocking on the mad-house door (or looking for a reason to upgrade :whip?
