I must thank Joel Kopping for hosting me at the AVSA studios. It's not often you walk into an audition room of such a high standard as the ones in AVSA and spent a few minutes listening to great hifi and sweet music. I did just that today (took a break from mourning Tata) and what an experience. I went there to see and listen to a particular brand of speakers. And oh did they sound great! You will have to wait for the reviews from the experts. But what impressed me is how friendly the guys at AVSA are and how passionate they are about all matters audio and video. And how keen they are to grow the market for AV. Checkout their AV Explained annual publication which replaced the old buyers guide. Yes the magazine is not technical enough for AV buffs but judging by the number of advise requests from new and old forum members, I think the magazine will appeal to a wider audience. Not everyone knows the differences between a single triode and a push-pull amp! And wouldn't it be great to grow the AV fanbase?
Oh turns out Musica now sells vinyl!!! Visited the Sandton store and they had some good vinyls: AC/DC, Massive Attack, Norah Jones, Jack Johnnson, Lady Gaga, Daft Punk, The Beatles, The Eagles, Eric Clapton, etc. Not exactly diverse but it's a start and big ups to Musica for coming to their senses  Hopefully other retailers follow suit. I know this development is not great news for the independent stores but I honestly believe the less niche a hobby is, the better it is for us. And the independents will still have their loyal customers satisfy their niche tastes
