I bought a pair of B&W 805 Matrix speakers used on eBay in the UK for R7000-00. I used to own a pair in 1997 whilst living in the UK.
They arrived at my sisters in the UK with a damaged tweeter although they play fine. The seller refunded me R4300-00 and I have used that to purchase a new tweeter from B&W USA. (They only have 10 units left)
I brought the speakers back as excess luggage.
They sound amazing hooked up to my Marantz PM6006 and CD6006. Balance is slightly on the warm side with the components, but it will do for now. The 805's have a big, bold sound.
I took them to a friends in Randburg and we hooked it up to his system to compare them to his new Sonus Faber Venere 3s.
Well, my 805's still sound brilliant compared to a pair of 2017 R100000-00 floor standers. You don't have to spend a fortune to enjoy hi-fi.
