On Saturday afternoon I hit the road from Centurion to Alberton to go listen to Evan's system. He invited me a long time ago but something always come up but I finally decided to put everything aside and honor the invite.
When I walked into the room straight away I noticed the difference in my voice. The room has ample room treatment from wall panels to corner bass traps on all corners. The gear is intimidating with ATC speakers that stands taller than me by a mile when I'm seating. I'm 187cm tall by the way.
There was no shortage of music. I think Mr Rotten has something over 18 000 songs. We played everything we could over +-3 hours. I was amazed by how everything sounded. The soundstage was so deep and I could pinpoint the location of every instrument. Everything sounded so right that my difficult to impress self was blown away.
Back to room treatment. It's not fiction. It does wonders to music. I unfortunately don't have a dedicated room like Evan has but I really would like to do what I can in my room.
