20 Years ago I received my copy of AVSA and there was a review of a power amplifier called the Black Widow. I remember the picture depicting it on a wooden crate and Deon Schoeman waxing lyrical about this amplifier.
At that stage unbeknown to me I lived about 1-2 km from the designer/builder even though the name Schalk Havenga became a household name in the Le Grange household. I must have read that review about 382 times and fantasized about one day owning one of them (those were the days when I had to take leave some months the day before payday because I didnt have money for petrol to get to work).
Fast forward 20 years.
A lot has happened in that 20 years and I had the privilege to acquire a Predator (sponsored by Charmain and discounts from Schalk), but the yearning for BW did not go away.
Last weekend this pitched up at my doorstep. Delivered by the man himself. (No emoji can express my elation).

I am not going to try and review it since that would be unfair. Reason being that I dont have a proper pre-amp to use with this beauty. That being said, even with a very old very cheap Rotel pre-amp this beauty unlocks the potential of my old Kef references like never before.
The order has been placed for the BW pre after which I am sure I will be set for life amplifier wise.

Schalk, even though my thanks for this beauty can not be expressed in words, my gratefulness to call you a friend surpass my thanks ten fold.

Thanks FRIEND.
