So I'm having a little trouble with my ages old Blu-Ray player.  It's a Samsung BD-C5500 and I've recently tried to get myself in on a Harry Potter marathon but alas, about just under 2 hours in to any of the movies it freezes and I can hear the sound of the laser moving around, similar to when you have a badly scratched disc.  These discs are pristine though, not a mark on them, never been used.  If I use them in my PC, they work great so it's definitely not the discs.

Anyway, what I was wondering is whether anyone was familiar with such an issue, be it on Blu-Ray or on DVD.  I'm assuming it occurs when the laser moves on to the second layer as the film runs fine up until a certain point, if I go back to earlier in the movie, it also works fine again.  I've been considering cleaning the laser lens, however, I'm not sure if a dirty lens would only cause an issue on the second layer of the disc.

Hope someone can help, not really in the mood to replace the player at this point as my AVR only has Toslink inputs for audio and the new ones I've looked at only have Coax outputs.

P.S. I'm also running the latest firmware version, although it was released over a year ago.
