Bond/Home loan Clearance

Some advice regarding paying up one's Bond/Home Loan

Would it be best to pay it off completely or leave R1000 left to pay off ?

What makes sense is to leave a R1000 as the bank would still hold the deed(safekeeping), money could be available if needed and one would still have the Home Owners insurance .

What I would like to do however is clear the bond ,get alternative insurance and give the Scum Bag Bank the middle finger.
