Hi Guys
I am a newbie in the market for a turntable. After MUCH reading and researching, I have decided to get the Pro-ject Carbon III for now. However checking prices locally it seems me that it would be a lot cheaper to buy it online and have it shipped here. I have seen it on Amazon for around $400 compared to average asking price of R7k locally. I wanted to know if anyone has done this. Mainly my worries are:
1. Will the customs duties payable on it basically make it the same price as if I buy it from a local dealer?
2. Will it survive the shipping? Or is it highly probable that it will be damaged? (In which case it will be quite a schlep to get it fixed/replaced by the original seller).
Any info anyone has would be very helpful....
