Hi guys
Although I briefly tried two pairs of FS, I've always liked Planars (Maggies and ET's) and stand mounts.
Because my room is decent sized (35sqm plus semi o/p), I recently traded my ET LFT16's for a pair of open baffles.
Although not quite planar pace, I really enjoy the character of the sound, but feel SQ can improve, ito 'fleshing out' and a more relaxed/realistic sound.
The drivers are a 15" Eminence woofer, with a Tang Band W4 1879 4" FR driver. Construction is a clear sheet of pvc between galvanized steel frames. It's solid and heavy, xover minimalist, and at 120Hz. The (steel) space housing the FR driver is such that a 6/6.5" (16cm) driver should fit exactly (mounting holes are 110mm apart), so I want to pursue this option?
Specs of the T B W4 1879 are here:
http://www.tb-speaker.com/products/w4-1879
My speakers are rated 90dB @8 Ohm, power 50-100W.
Sound did improve quite a bit tonally when I introduced an Exclame 150, but I feel the 4" may be too small for the room, so there's 'room' for improvement..?
So I would appreciate some suggestions from the o/b guru's here, I have briefly spoken to Ingvar Michon and Felix, so please feel free to advise!
Cheers! :dop:
