CD vs net streaming vs Lossless (from a MacBook)

I know this has been laboured many times before but still confusing to me.

I am starting afresh from a source perspective but not sure which route to go purely for audio not convenience.

A. a good quality CD player with our with out external DAC
B. a good quality streamer (to stream online music) with external DAC
C.  Lossless content from a MacBook  with external DAC


Input will be much appreciated.
