Cinema's too loud?

Does anyone have a problem with the volume of cinema's nowadays. Back when wonder woman came out I found it to be way too loud at my cinema. Do cinema owners fear there cinema's to be too quite or is it a battle like old rock bands to see who has the loudest gear?
