I own a Little Dot MKIV SE headphone amp. Recently I started hearing a crackling noise in the right ear. This had me seriously worried as I am not in a position to order replacement tubes.
When I removed (very nervously) the 2 Mullards to swap them over trying to isolate the problem I noticed that the pins look very grey. I followed this video in cleaning them:

And it was really easy even for someone like me with no DIY skills whatsoever. I alo cleaned the gold pins with isopropyl alcohol.
Now I make no claims about my hearing or listening ability but WOW the results were absolutely amazing. Not only was the crackling gone but the music was so much clearer my jaw dropped. It sounded like a different amp.
Long story short. If I can do it anyone can!
