So I had these advertised some time ago, after trading from a client. Took it to a formite in Jhb for auditioning, and the one speaker gave a popping/arcing sound.

Closed the sale as I thought the unit had a defect.

Some offered me some money as is, but decided against parting with them....

Collected them a few weeks later from the Formite and brought them down to CT with me.

Had a chat to an old friend who I worked with in my early days with Quad. He most probably repaired the most ESL63's in this Country and although retired nowadays said he will cladly had a look once in CT.

But he also told me to test the units 1st, once down in CT, cause most of the problems they had with the ESL63's(arcing) used to be up north and the coastal areas seemed to be fine(altitude and thin air the main culprits)

So I took his advise, hooked them up in my TV lounge, and they playing perfectly.

So much so, that they not going anywhere....just LUV the sound I am getting in the room.

Always had a soft spot for Quad, especially the ESL63's) as I started my fulltime audio career with the company that use to import them in the 80/90's.
