Hi guys
Been offline for a while enjoying life with our boy and now as he starts to crawl, I need to revamp our tv lounge. Was hoping for some advice on the following.
The pic below refers.
I want to get someone to build me a wooden structure running the entire width of the lounge (3m) Basically from the yellow of the flag across to the wall on the right side. I envision a nice wooden top or perhaps a top made from granite. My centre speaker would sit on the surface top. I currently have floor standing fronts but will convert to book shelf speakers as fronts and will mount them on the wall on either side of the tv.
The idea would be to have shelves with doors in the centre of the structure to house the equipment and then I want my subs on either side. I have two questions.
Does anyone know of someone in Gauteng who could build the structure for me and secondly, would it work if I built two square open cavities on either side of the equipment cupboard to house the subs?
To help you visualize it, you would see the sub from the front and I guess I could easily get away with a space of 20cm on either side of the sub with a good 30cm space between top of sub and top of structure. Would such an open styled sub housing have any negative effect on the subs? They are both front firing btw.
Cheers
Daniel
