Hello
I need to recover data from an old harddrive not currently plugged into a computer. The crowd which built my new computer failed to transfer the contents of Outlook Express to my present desktop computer about 2 years ago.
Instead, the %$$##@@!!! rebuilt my former computer which was not required and hasn't been used for about a year.
Some months ago, I tried to boot-up the old computer but it failed to start. I "think" I vaguely remember I asked for a solution to the start-up problem here and I "think" I got the advice to remove a battery and replace it again but this appears to have made the problem worse - something to do with "bios" whatever this means.
My question is - can I unplug my present, fully functional computer's harddrive and plug in the old harddrive just to recover some data I require?
Both the old and the new computers use the same operating system - Windows XP Professional.
Will there be a risk in doing this?
mafioso
PS I'm not 100% sure that it was someone on this board who advised to remove and replace a battery in my former computer, so apologies for offending anyone here.
