To the experienced soldering hands out there... I'm struggling with my soldering iron, it doesn't seem to 'wet into' the solder and melt it quickly and cleanly, it just makes everything bloody hot.
I have abused the tip a little, and then cleaned it by gently scraping some crud off and then giving it a polish up with a scouring pad. It was once shiny silver, now dull grey.
Did I destroy it? Is it possible to resuscitate it, or get a new one?
