Digital TV and PVR in South Africa

I'm hoping someone here may be able to help me. I'm about to move back to SA from the UK. I'm bringing across (or had planned to bring) my Samsung LCD TV and Humax PVR.

Here in the UK I can use the PVR to watch catch up TV via the internet, as well as just record to the hard disk for normal TV.

I'm not expecting any of the UK catch up TV to work, but I was hoping that I would at least be able to use the PVR as a hard disk recorder for whatever else I was watching on TV, or even just to watch the stuff I already have recorded.
But someone has said that it will probably not work.

Anyone here got any ideas?
