Any recommendations for a system for recovering a corrupted C: drive? The drive in question currently contains multiple software installations of various types, so for purposes of the proposed system, re-installation is not an option. The idea is to have a backup that will restore the drive to a state no older than 24 hrs.
The background to this specific case is that a relatively new SSD got its master boot record corrupted. A recovery was attempted, but the file repair process took multiple days, and the result was that the computer boots up into a BSOD (black screen of death). The cause of the failure is unknown. (There is the old hard drive available, from which this drive was cloned).
To avoid such a recurrence, I am trying to find out what schemes exist for preventing such a loss. The next move is to have, separately, Windows-only drive and a data-only drive.
To be clear, my query is not regarding the current job of restoring the drive, but implementing a better (preventive) system.
