I bought one of these HD PVR 2 things on special a couple of days back and yesterday decided to install it myself. Well, let's just say that while I am normally comfortable when up to my armpits in cabling, this experience has left me with two firm convictions:
- the people at DStv must all be lined up and shot dead. Twice. Just to be certain.
- whoever invented that bloody RF cabling with those screw on knuckle joiners needs to be tortured to death over a period of at least 6 months. And then shot to death. Twice.
Anyway, I eventually this morning got my HD PVR working after only 90 minutes on the phone to them (60 spent waiting for a consultant, and that is not an exaggeration). So now I have to try and get my Extraview decoder linked and operational. The consultant I spent 90 minutes waiting to get the thing to work for me tells me that they can't activate the Extraview - I have to go to a different department. So he puts me though and my God, I am #59 in another queue with (get this) an ETA of 50 minutes until I get served. Seriously? Seriously!?!?!
How do these people get to operate like this? It's friggin' ridiculous! I have this gnawing fear that when I eventually do get to speak to somebody in the hallowed Extraview department they are going to tell me that my decoder is incompatible or something like that.
