There was a set of KrK active speakers for sale here recently.. KrK Rokit 8 G2 and a KrK 12s sub.
Price was too good to refuse , R7k so I bit and had em shipped down here (Drukkie and Co - you guys packed them real well , was a good sale experience)
Anyway , to cut a long story short , I set them up so I could flip between my meridian system with twin subs and then the Rokit / 12's instantly.
Mighty impressed with the KrK stuff , excellent bass after some tuning , detailed clear uncoloured sounding speakers , tho at some of the insane levels I play at , they start getting a little flustered where the Meridian just takes it in stride
Excellent imaging too.. nice wide soundstage and they disappear well.. female vocalists really sounded good.
From Rosa Passos to Yello at room shaking levels , they coped well .. a little more punchy and forward than my meridian system
The KrK sub itself is very good , had it hooked up to my twin SVS subs for a while , tuned it in , and wow... added an extra dimension to bass and more ambience.
All in all, for the money , it punches way above its weight...
Im listening at the desk , sort of midfield , they around 3m from me , sub in the middle , the BIG meridian speakers have side firing woofers , so putting the KrK's in front of them is no problem.
Excuse the mess ... but that cable tangle would bring a tear of pleasure to any audiophiles eye... it's a work of art
Now you know what the sock is for , printer buzz destroyer..
Also found a use for my old revolving CD stands.....
So here are some pic's for you to peruse...
