Explainantions Required

I've been reading about this "thing" and cannot stand it any longer. What exactly is a medi8ter ? What does it do and where does one buy one ? I first thought it had something to do with Mercedes spelt incorrectly.

How does a DAC (digital to analogue converter) interface with a DVDP, Laptop, stereo *mplifier ? Why does it make such an improvement to the sound ? Where does one buy one ?
