So I set up this little rig earlier for someone to check out.  Listening to Captain Fantastic on a Jap pressing.

NAD 316 BEE
Edwards Audio Apprentice Lite
PSB Alpha 5

The316 BEE  NAD amplifier is new but is just so traditional NAD in many ways (but has a remote).  Lovely punch and a good phono input.
Put together with a turntable much in line with what the classic table
of the 80s was about and playing with a great pair of budget small speakers.

I sit here somewhat in awe of how a whole system that costs half the cash of my regular phono pre amp conveys music and is a ?jol? to listen to.

I am reminded of those stereophile reviewers waxing lyrical about things like the Diamond 10.1, the PSB Alpha and other budget greats where I felt then they don?t know how good the entry stuff can be.

Playing with high end just sometimes makes you disconnected of what?s possible with smaller money and a R40k phono pre amp is your normality.  Half that for a full system that makes awesome music seems a miracle.

Perspective.

I am reminded of a time where pay cheque one went to flat deposit  and rent, cheque number two for
a fridge, number three went to hifi.
Life seemed simple.  Music was in the centre of life  for nearly everyone I knew.
