Sorry, just noticed fdlsys's comment on Merc - it's nice to drive when:

Yeah, I know: the shape is just damn ugly (at least to you less artistically inclined lot!). But, the Miss Daisy on this backseat is a wild-eyed, tequila swiggin', joint totin' old gal, going "C'mon, step on it! Don't you be holding back none, son! Yeeeehawww!!"

This example of Ms. Daisy's coach was a 2005 model, 96k on the clocked when I killed her earlier this year (the coach, not Ms. Daisy). Yeah, indeed, I took her straight off the road while the road turned, and nay, it was not because the Benz could not handle the bends; it happened on a Sunday drive, at 70km/h, car full of kids, and one big, fat idiot behind the wheel.

Before that, it could take Ms Daisy from 0-100 in less than 5 seconds - in second gear. First was simply too hard to control, at least for me - in 'S' mode the electronics kept on interfering to prevent wheelspin, and trying without the electronics required a much better driver than me. 4th to 5th change happened at 280, and before Ms. Daisy could light her second joint, we'd see 300km/h on that there speedo.

All this, of course, surrounded in that glorious, glorious roar that could almost, but not quite, drown out Ms. Daisy's shrieks of delight from behind. Think of a MIG-25 passing overhead, just a few meters up, and you're talking THAT kind of exhiliration... ok, ok, I might be exaggerating a wee bit.

408KW, 834Nm - Ms. Daisy is EVERYBODY's momma!

But, fdlsys, guess what I'm driving now? Yep, a '97 318iS.
