I picked up a pair of Garrard turntables earlier this afternoon that both require a complete overhaul. It looks as they may have been sitting for a while. My turntable knowledge/experience is pretty much zero - but I'm definitely keen to try get these (either both or one of them) going again.

The one is a little Garrard Mk1 (the seller wasn't 100% sure though) and the other is a Mk4. Both are missing plugs so I have not plugged them in to see if they turn. Both of them have cartridges/needles... The Mk1 has a cracked top cover and is missing its bottom cover as well. The Mk4 seems more complete but still needs a major cleanup.

A few questions:
1. What have I really gotten myself into?
2. Which one should I start working on first?
3. Is there anything that I should look for to determine if it wouldn't be feasible to fix/restore?
4. Is there someone in Jhb that could potentially repair them?

Any advice would be appreciated.
