Graphic Equalizer Advice

Good day. Looking for some advice please? I have a Rotel A14MKII, with Monitor Audio 100 Bookshelf speakers. I want to know if I will reduce my sound quality by hooking it up to a old school graphics equalizer like the Technics SH - GE70. The only reason I want to do it is for the cosmetic display (if I can call it that) when music plays. Or will something like Douk Audio from Amazon work better. Or am I wasting my time and the little sound quality I have? Thanks
