Convention seems to suggest that one should use a valve pre-amp with a valve power amplifier, or maybe even a solid-state power-amp.
Why spoil the magic of valve power by using a solid-state pre; or so I thought until I tried the combination!
When there wasn't room on the side-board for the usual ARC SP6, so I hooked-up the old Electrocompaniet Preampliwire II instead. Power amplifiers are 300B monoblocks. Also tried with a Radford STA25.
I'm very impressed by the sound. In fact, it's a sound I consider my new reference.
Anybody else try the solid-state into valve combo?
