Hello all- I've just joined this forum as it appears this amplifier originates in South Africa. I've just bought a pair at auction here in the UK. I hope the photo appears below but if not, follow this link: http://i150.photobucket.com/albums/s95/musiator/GSAmps_zpsbdc67063.jpg
I took it straight to our excellent hi-fi engineer (I don't like to plug old gear into the mains without having it tested first) who is particularly expert in valve amplifiers but apparently the design is rather unconventional. For one thing it uses PL519 valves for the output stage which although not unknown, is rare. He immediately noticed that the fuse in each had blown and he wants to find the cause of this. There is no visible sign of damage or wear to the electronics except for a couple of slightly bulging capacitors. Does anyone out there have any information about these amplifiers? A circuit diagram/schematic would be really useful but any thoughts or suggestions would be very gratefully received.
Many thanks!
