Have you ever had one of those days, make it a Friday, 7pm everyone has ducked for the weekend and you're still at the office.
Not because you're slack, but because everything is always needed TODAY, because your boss never says NO.
So not are you the only chop at the office at 7pm on a Friday, but all the support staff ducked at 3pm as they do on Fridays, and you've had to bump out delivery on a MASSIVE CRITICAL rewrite, of the MOST IMPORTANT code, that you can only do with your college that's off to another country in 18 work days.
If that wasn't bad enough, you ponder hard about the rest of the system, that was 5 years in the making (in fact it's still in the making this evening), that has to be redesigned and rewritten before you yourself are due to flee to foreign soil.
I love my job, but really, unrealistic much?
And so job security is guaranteed from any country with decent internet, but at the end of the day you ask yourself IS THIS REALLY WHAT I WANT FOR ANOTHER DECADE!
Would my life be any better if I said NO and actually stuck to what I said? My college says if someone wants live at the office then that's their problem, and it's a true story no doubt.
And so, what's my name again....
But seriously, why do we do it??
