I have an older pair of Sennheiser hd555s, that are getting a little on in time now, and I think its time for a new pair, an upgrade if possible. My budget is roughly R2k, and I have narrowed down to a few potential contenders. Either a pair of House of Marley Redemption song on ears or Sennheiser HD449, Sennheiser HD 439 West, or Sennheiser HD 380 PRO. Now Obviously the HD380Pros are the most expensive, but does that make them the best choice ?
I guess what I'm asking is how do I compare these headphones ? As I can't audition them all at one place so on paper how do you tell which are going to be more worth while ? And are any of them actually even going to be better than my current HD555s ?
