Now that the introduction is done ( http://www.avforums.co.za/index.php/topic,8.msg5480.html#msg5480 ), I have a question about setting up my B&W ASW800 sub. I have connected up the front speakers and center channel but am unsure how to connect the sub. The H/K AVR80 does not have a sub output like the newer amps. From what I have read there are a couple of ways of connecting it. When these subs were produced it appears that the front left and right speakers were wired though the sub. I have asked a guy in one of the stores and he said this was the old way of doing it and it is not used anymore as it is inefficient. The alternate connectivity would be as they show - the left and right line out from the pre-amp to the sub and then left and right line out from the sub to the line in of the power amp. Now I only have the AVR80 so would this work from the pre-amp outlets on the AVR80 to inputs on the AVR80 ?
Considering my old set-up which is the best way to wire in this sub ? I want to get everything connected correctly so when I do decide on a new amp I will be able to connect it right in and make sure it works for me and sounds good. I have heard that stores will let you demo equipment, is that correct ?
