Maybe this is a stupid question but here goes - As I'm aware no amplifier (even digital) is 100% efficient why do 99%(that I've seen) of the subwoofer companies claim 1000+ watts continuous power and/or RMS - and sometimes much higher peaks . Except for the odd co. all the top subwoofer specs I've seen consume less than 250w ? Please could someone enlighten me / as most high end power amplifiers will have a higher consumption than there output or specify at least their ltransformers eg. 450va for 300w power amp.(which is closer to the truth)
As far as I'm aware a switch mode power supply is 93+ % efficient
Or is it just good marketing like a lot of modern projector specs -mine is bigger than yours :O0:
