A thought occurred to me. How bad is professional amplifiers really?
Late 2007 I had a monstrous Samson S1500 pro amplifier in for service. After it was given the green light in the workshop I connected it on my system in the house. Phono-stage directly into the unit. I was blown away by the absolute control of the 750 watts per side. The B&Ws sang without a flaw. I really enjoyed the sound.
I would not hesitate, in the future, to get two similar Samson (but lower power) units and running 'em in bridge mode. I'll strip off the ugly faces and replace them with neat DIY ones for a more sober look.
Just a thought...
