I've managed to burn in the Denafrips Ares II for about 200 hours and can confidently confirm that it is sonically better than The Musical Fidelity M1DAC and the Cambridge Audio DAC Magic. The tests were done on the Yamaha AS-3000/cd-3000 and Opera Consonance Valve preamp/Bryston 4B SST respectively. I must indicate that the dac in the Yamaha CD-3000 was without doubt superior.
While the Ares II was good, I would like to check with owners or forumites who had the opportunity to compare it to the Pontus II. By what margin would the latter be better than the former? I am not oblivious to the reality of subjectivity and the difference in hifi systems.......
