How did this budget speaker sound so impressive?

The first speaker that really impressed me was the Mission 760i, nothing amazing to look at or high up in their range but really coherent sounding, and I was only driving them with a little Technics Micro system.

Previous to that I had B&W 603's I think it was, they were great but didn't really do much for me, driven by a nice Denon integrated.

The Mission 760i spec sheet also doesn't seem terribly impressive:
Enclosure Type: 2 way bass reflex
Drivers: 1 x 130mm bass/midrange | 1 x 19mm dome tweeter
Frequency response: 70Hz to 20kHz ?2.5dB
Nominal Impedance: 6 Ohms
Sensitivity: 89dB
Recommended amplifier: 25 to 75 watts

They don't go low, they seem rather inefficient and I was driving them with a puny amp and one of the things that really caught my ear was their beautiful bass!
What makes these speakers sound so good?
