'twas a bad hair day here today as I don't usually break things but 3 went to lightbulb heaven (or hell) today.
First, I carefully removed one from my wife's bedside lamp to fit a brighter one of the same, gripping the thing at its base and lightly touching the bulb's top with the rest of my hand and it shattered.
I then took the new one from its box, unplugged the lamp and again gripping it at the base, pressed down just enough to depress the pins in the bulb bayonet socket and another one broke just before twisting it.
I then opened another box to fit a similar one in the lamp at my workbench and discovered the thing was broken.
Fortunately, I had the purchase slip from P'nP and they exchanged it. I picked a replacement off the shelf, checked to see that it was unbrokenj and took it to P'nP's information desk where their clerk wanted to see for herself if the thing was OK. Before I could warn her about the bulb's fragility, she broke it while taking it from its box.
