Hi all. I'm an electronic engineer and this is my first posting.
How often are you bothered by tape hiss during listening. It doesn't matter if it's CD or vinyl (when mastered from analog). I've listened to material on CD that was recorded before the digital era that was very hissy and it bothered me.
I've done some research on noise reduction and discovered a non-complimentary system (doesn't require encoded source material like Dolby does) called Dynamic Noise Reduction or DNR. It uses psychoacoustics and an adaptive bandwidth scheme to deliver up to 10dB of noise reduction! It's implemented with just one chip, the LM1894.
Has anybody here ever tried it?
