Pioneer Electronics. A sort of ho-hum manufacturer that was known in this country for Hyperama sold hi-fis, some with hardboard backs, and car audio. However in 1974 Pioneer elicited the help of a former JBL vice president and a division was born to serve the Pro Audio market- Technical Audio Devices or TAD. Such was(and is) the reputation of TAD that they gradually morphed into the very high-end audio market. Even more exclusive than their  Andrew Jones-designed speakers have been their audio electronics.
