HP Microserver & XBMC Live without CD

Has anyone had any luck creating a bootable XBMC Live USB drive without the use of a CD-ROM? I've found some instructions on how - but I keep getting an "Error Loading Operating System" right after boot... the BIOS is set to boot from USB.
