My goal is to get my HT working seamlessly over a network. I plan on buying a WD 3TB My Cloud storage drive which will host the media files. This will hopefully circumvent having to rely on the media server being on (I hate leaving electronics running when they're not being used).
Step 1: Buy a new HT amp.
Options: Denon AVR X-1000 | Yamaha RX-V475 | Sony STR DN-1040
From what I can tell the Sony seems to have great ratings and all the connectivity boxes checked.
I should note that I have not decided on a speaker package. Budget for this will come with time. At the moment I might just use my KEF LS50 speakers and an old Sony sub - 2.1 for now. Perhaps adding a single LS50 as a centre might be an option. Also I have a one year old and I'm terrified having the LS50s anywhere within her reach.
Any suggestions would be appreciated.
