Esteemed members of AVforum, I would greatly appreciate your expert input re the following idea: I want to upgrade the sound from my CD player, a NAD 546 BEE. It is a good quality player but I know that there are better players on the market, the Marantz 6007, for example, which is in my price range.
My options are to replace with a new and better player, e.g. aforementioned Marantz or other, as per your suggestions, or to keep the player as a drive unit and feed the coaxial digital output to a Dac and then into my Denon AVR. In this scenario, I would like to keep the cost of the Dac below that of replacing the player in its entireity.
