I've made IEC socket cutouts in sheet metal before and it's a real pita.
I'm having to make two of these cutouts (different dimensions for a male and female IEC socket) and will have to resort to doing this with hand and power tools into 2.5mm aluminium.
First, I will have to make two templates from board. Then trace the outlines with a scriber onto the enclosure. Then, use an automatic punch to punch drilling start holes, then drill along the outlines, then drill a bigger hole to insert an electric file. Ugggghhhh...and be prepared to snap a halfdozen sanding belts removing metal.
Has anyone done this before. Do you have a better method other than buying the tool?
