Has anyone here imported a TV set from abroad?
It really grinds me the price Audio Vision is charging for the 2010 P50V20 (R20999) when a new 2011 P50GT30 is $1499. My calc for importing is:
(30% on Price for duties) + (14% vat on (Price + 10%)) + shipping costs = 2180 + 444 = $2624 @ R7.01 = R18395
Firstly, is the duties for TVs 30% or is it higher? I know on cameras (which i do order from overseas) its 10%. I've been told TVs are higher but haven't consulted the SARS tables. Secondly, I know its going to be a US Tuner. Won't be using it as I'll have DSTV.
Any advice appreciated. Otherwise I'm just going to settle on the PS51D550 from sammy.
